Introduction

Ternaknesia is a digital platform designed to connect farmers, investors, and consumers in the livestock ecosystem. The app provides three core services:

  • E-commerce: Selling livestock-related products and daily needs.

  • Investment: Allowing customers to invest in livestock projects and share in profits.

  • Qurban Services: Enabling customers to purchase qurban animals online with transparent processes.

Beyond functionality, Ternaknesia differentiates itself with a unique design system—transforming its logo into a friendly mascot character and using custom illustrations. This not only creates a strong brand identity but also builds an emotional connection with users.

Identifying the Opportunity

Indonesia’s livestock sector is still highly traditional, with limited access to digital tools. Farmers and customers often rely on offline transactions, while investors face trust issues when investing in livestock projects.

Ternaknesia saw the opportunity to build an integrated digital ecosystem that:

  • Simplifies livestock commerce and investment.

  • Provides transparent, trustworthy transactions.

  • Strengthens brand engagement through unique visual identity.

Problem Statement

Before Ternaknesia, the industry faced key challenges:

  1. Fragmented Solutions
Customers had to use different platforms for buying products, investing, or qurban.

  2. Generic Design Experiences
Most agricultural or fintech apps used generic interfaces, lacking a warm, relatable identity that could resonate with users.

Solution

Ternaknesia was designed as an all-in-one livestock ecosystem app, with:

E-commerce Module

  • Customers can browse and purchase products.

  • Integrated payment and delivery tracking.

Investment Module

  • Digital livestock projects open for funding.

  • Real-time project updates with progress reports.

  • ROI calculations and transparent distribution.

Qurban Module

  • Easy online qurban booking.

  • Certificates provided digitally.

Unique Design System

  • Ternaknesia logo transformed into a character mascot, used across onboarding, empty states, and notifications.

  • Illustration-driven UI to build trust, reduce complexity, and make agriculture “friendly.”

  • Consistent design language across all modules, supported by custom iconography and illustrations.

UI/UX Process

  1. Research & Discovery

    • Conducted interviews with farmers, investors, and urban customers.

    • Identified needs: trust, simplicity, transparency.

  2. User Flow & Information Architecture

    • Structured into 3 main flows: Shop (E-commerce), Invest, Qurban.

    • Integrated dashboards to allow users to track investments, orders, and qurban status in one place.

  3. Wireframing & Prototyping

    • Low-fidelity wireframes for navigation and content hierarchy.

    • High-fidelity prototypes showcased the mascot character, illustrations, and bright visual identity.

  4. Usability Testing

    • Farmers and investors tested prototypes.

    • Feedback led to clearer terminology, simplified investment dashboards, and mobile-friendly flows.

  5. Design System

    • Created Ternaknesia Design System, including:

      • Color palette inspired by nature and agriculture.

      • Icon set with rounded edges, reflecting friendliness.

      • Mascot illustrations : Our mascot illustration is a lively transformation of the Ternaknesia logo, making the brand more human, fun, and memorable.

Challenge

  • Trust Building
Convincing users that online livestock transactions are safe and transparent.

  • Complex Information
Simplifying financial investment details into user-friendly dashboards.

  • Consistency Across Modules
Balancing three different business models (commerce, investment, qurban) while keeping the UX consistent.

Summary

  • Successfully merged commerce, investment, and qurban into one cohesive app.

  • Established a unique brand identity with a mascot-based design system.

  • Strengthened trust through transparency features and friendly design.

  • Increased customer engagement and loyalty across diverse user groups.

Looking Ahead

  • Community Hub: Enable discussions, farmer stories, and knowledge sharing to foster deeper connections.
